2023 Chevy Colorado Towing and payload capacity
The Chevy Colorado gives you the most towing capacity in the mid-size truck segment, with a maximum capacity of 7,700 pounds. The base engine in the WT and LT trims can pull up to 3,500 pounds and the ZR2 can pull 6,000 pounds but when you move up to the Z71 or the Trail Boss, that's when you hit that 7,700-pound mark.
2023 Chevy Colorado Engines and performance
Every version of the Chevy Colorado for 2023 comes with a turbocharged 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine with a variety of outputs based on the trim level. An 8-speed automatic is the default transmission on all Colorado pickups. The WT and LT model comes standard with 237 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. The Z71 and Trail Boss deliver 310 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. The ZR2 also generates 310 horsepower and provides 430 pound-feet of torque.

Trim Levels

The 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 trim
The ZR2 bundles most of the goodies from the Z71 and Trail Boss into a single pickup and then adds more power and amenities. The ZR2 comes with a 2.7-liter High Output engine with 310 horsepower that delivers 430 pound-feet of torque. An off-road package comes standard with advanced Multimatic shock absorbers, fender flares, a three-inch lift and a Baja drive mode that maximizes power and traction when you're traveling over sand. You'll also get fully locking front and rear differentials, an integrated brake controller and an 800-amp heavy duty battery.
The 2023 Chevy Colorado Z71 trim
The Z71 has the same more powerful Turbo Plus engine as the Trail Boss along with four-wheel drive but it's more of a highway cruiser. The Z71 trim adds a 120-volt power outlet, cruise control, heated side mirrors and LED headlights. Optional features include a heated steering wheel, ventilating front seats and a power sunroof.
The 2023 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss
Four-wheel drive comes standard with the Chevy Colorado Trail Boss and so does the Turbo Plus engine with 310 horsepower along with all-terrain tires, 18-inch gloss black wheels and an off-road suspension system with a two-inch lift. The Trail Boss adds other off-road features like hill descent control, black recovery hooks and an automatic locking rear differential.
The Trail Boss interior builds on the WT with active noise cancellation, an express up and down driver's window and a Driver Mode Selector. The Dark Essentials package will give you Colorado sill plates, a black exhaust tip and 20-inch black alloy wheels.
