PERFORMANCE
The Chevrolet Equinox is available with three powertrains. The base 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. A powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivers a blazing 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.  Finally, the 1.6-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine generates 137 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque.

Both the Equinox and Escape can tow up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped. 
 
EFFICIENCY
The Chevrolet Equinox offers some of the best fuel economy in its class. The base 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is rated for an EPA-estimated 26 city/32 highway mpg. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine offers 26 city/29 highway mpg. Best of all, the 1.6-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder engine is rated at an astounding 39 highway mpg.*

No matter what engine the Ford Escape is equipped with, its fuel economy never compares to the Equinox. The base 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is rated for an EPA-estimated 21 city/29 highway mpg. The 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine earns up to 23 city/30 highway mpg. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is rated for 21 city/28 highway mpg.*
